BC Avozmash Mariupol overcame their injury problems to score two emphatic victories over BC Vozko Voznesensk and retain the lead of the Ukrainian Superleague.
Mariupol were without forward Leonid Yailo, center Nikola Bulatovic and American forward Tang Hamilton for the double-header, but they still managed to triumph, thanks largely to two influential displays from Hamilton's
compatriot Junior Harrington, a guard who spent last season with the Denver Nuggets.
Meanwhile, FIBA Europe League side BC Kyiv experienced an immediate upturn in fortunes following the appointment of Italian coach Renato Pascuali as they defeated BC Khimki to stay second.
"Our financial state became better, and we decided to find a good coach in order to rebuild the club," said Kyiv supremo Olexander Volkov.
"I'd heard a lot of good things about Pascuali, and in December and January he already did some work for us in a consultancy capacity."
