BC Kyiv drew first blood in Game One of their Superliga play-off semi-final with MBC Odessa, Sean Colson scoring 26 points to lead the capital club to a 93-77 triumph.
Colson, an American guard, proved the difference for a BC Kyiv side who made a decisive burst in the third quarter after the tie was locked at 42-42 at the halfway mark.
Yevhen Annenkov had 24 points in a losing cause for Odessa.
Azovmash were also triumphant in the other last-four encounter, defeating BC Khimik 91-78.
Khimik led 19-16 at the end of the first quarter but the home side came back strongly to get their noses in front, 42-37, by the midpoint of the match.
After that they never looked back, and Khimik will be hoping that home-court advantage allows them to level the semi-final series in the forthcoming second match.
